A Quick Guide To Choosing A Job Board

To make a recruitment campaign a successful one, choosing a job board from the many available online is an important part of the process.  With just over 700 job boards to choose from in the UK, this isn't an easy task - so where do you start?

Directly targeting the correct candidates that will, eventually, be your interviewees is important as it helps to avoid hundreds of replies from unsuitable job seekers - which in itself can be an administrative nightmare.

Word of Mouth

If you have already had recommendations from another recruiter is a great start.  They may have already put in the time it takes to research a job board, the company who owns it and their success figures.

Search Engines

You can always carry out your own research into companies that are readily found on the web (if you can find them easily, so can jobseekers).  The chances are, if they are showing up near the first page when you carry out such a search, they already have search engine optimisation and marketing knowledge meaning when you place your ad, your ad is most likely to be marketed properly too.

Clicking onto various sites it will become obvious if a job board is already established and performing well, or you may simply recognise the name of a company when you see it show in search results.

Approach a company whose testimonials are from valid sources - a large blue chip company will not allow their logo or comment published on a website, unless it's genuine.  However, just because a company that you know of has commented, it may be that at that time the job board was the best suited to the job role they had at that time.
