Employment In Aberdeen

Most of us have to work to live, but it makes it a much nicer thing to do if you live in a beautiful area with plentiful and varying work around you as well as being in a vibrant employment marketplace.

Aberdeen, (The Granite City), is just such a place. One of Scotland's principle cities, and the capitol city of the Shire, it marks its striking presence with its fine architecture modeled from its local world famous granite, the very same source of granite used to build London's Houses of Parliament and Waterloo Bridge. Aberdeenshire is a stunningly beautiful county with its rolling hills and striking coastline, and it is a fitting place to house this wonderful city. As well as having a strong cultural and historic past, the city of Aberdeen is also modern, alive, and vibrant and boasts a modern arts centre.

Aberdeen is the third largest city in Scotland with a lively employment market buoyed by the demands of the industrial sector of this great city. Local industry has been dominated by the petroleum industry following the discovery of North Sea oil in the 1970s. The city became known as the oil capitol of Europe, although today Aberdeen is striving to be now known as the Energy capitol of Europe in recognition of dwindling oil reserves, and the new push towards developing renewable energy that it has dedicated itself to. Recruitment in the oil industry (as well as other industrial market sectors too) is well serviced by Vital Resources, a national company having one of its 10 offices based here in Aberdeen. The locally based recruitment agency "BEV" also offer specialist recruitment services directed towards the oil and gas industries.

As Aberdeen has sought to keep abreast of the changing times, and the changing demands on the working environment, a strong electronic design and developmentindustry has been established.

The city has an active, thriving port, and a healthy fishing industry, and it also houses the MacAulay Institute and Rowett Research Institute responsible for producing 3 Nobel prize laureate and the basis of a strong science community. Recruiters "Strategic Resources" are well renowned for securing placements in naval and general engineering as well as the process engineering fields, so here is a good opportunity to put those engineering qualifications to work.

Home to two Universities, and Aberdeen college, the city maintains a high educational profile. It is also home to the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, the local teaching hospital which is held in particularly high regard within the NHS.

Aberdeen also has a very healthy tourist industry with new vacancies constantly appearing. A trend stimulated even more through the low pound against foreign currencies. Recruitment agency "ASA Recruitment" handles vacancies across the spectrum, but have a particularly strong presence in the hospitality sector.

With such a diverse need for employment across all of these different sectors it is no wonder that the employment agencies are in such fierce but friendly competition. Thorpe Molloy is another fine recruitment house. Winner of the Scottish 2009 award for best small to medium recruitment agencies, they are actively involved in all market sectors and are well regarded for office based vacancies in the banking sector, and in accounting too.

Aberdeen also has local offices of the large recruitment agencies Reed Employment, and Office Angels (www.office-angels.com), both of whom field vacancies right across the board for all of the various recruitment sectors.
