I don't live in the U.K, so I felt this would be the appropriate place to ask.

So which careers are currently booming in the U.K? I'm assuming they have to do with technology, but I'd like something more specific. And what are the requirements, education wise?

As a side note, I did some research and apparently IT careers are doing well according to this article: http://www.computing.co.uk/computing/analysis/2186056/booming-business-boosting

However, I'd like to input from a typical person.

Can I ask what is your purpose of this question? Do you want a career in the UK?

Estate agents are doing pretty well at the moment with house prices booming. IT I think well there are many people looking for the same kind of jobs so probably depends on being in the right place at the right time.
To be honest there are few careers which have long term security.

Being a fairly typical person myself I'd say the biggest growth in the last few years has been self-employment and entrepreneurship

this seems like a very old post, but I would say in the IT sector, .net developers are especially in high demand.
