Before applying for a new job, how much should a person research the company they're applying to? Does it really matter or should you research thoroughly before getting the position?

I think it depends on the company but on the whole, you should do as much research as possible. It can only help and assist you during the interview process is you've done your homework.

It is very essential obtaining information about the company for they will query you about your knowledge. Having the information may put you in a higher status of obtaining the job and will give them the reason to hire you.
