Would you rather work for a small company or a large corporation?

Something mentioned in another topic led me to ask this question.  I have always prefered to work for a small company as it is easier to find out or at least make a best guess about where the company is going.  You "hear" things that have come from higher up the chain which are more likely to have an element of truth, and above all it is easier to be noticed for what you can do, rather than relying on a manager, who is managed by a manager, by a manager etc..

It makes you closer to the decision makers from the start of your employment.

I can see one benefit of working within a large corp though, (perceived) job security.

Worked for a large corporation and enjoyed the perks and security that comes with it. However, I know work for a small company but one crucially that is growing and I much prefer it I think.

At least with a large firm you will get paid and know that you are just a number.

Small companies are mean and not to be trusted in my experience.   Use them as they will surely be using you!

I've worked for both large and small companies and can actually see positives and negatives in both.

Sorry to seem like I'm sitting on the fence.

I have only worked in small companies, or in chains with a smallish team, and i like it! You get to know people and make friends.

In an ideal world you get to know people and make friends.
