A lot has been said on the merits of England's bid.  Then there is panorama doing it's level best to mess things up!  For crying out loud they could have put that programme out next week.

So ahead of the vote, I will confidently predict that ENGLAND will win the right and host the 2018 World Cup.

Why am I so confident?  because the World Cup Octopus chose us and he was never wrong before!  Rip.

I guess things changed when the Octopus died.

We lost.

Shame.

I blame the Beeb.

I am disgusted that corrupt FIFA  voted against England's excellent bid.  At 52 I can remember the last time in 1966 but it is now possible I will not live to see another World Cup in England.

The BBC Panorama programme was the cause the bid failed as FIFA only responded to type reacting in the childish way they did.

It is now WHAT WE DO as a nation.

1) England should pull out of World Cup competitions until 2026.

2) The BBC should pay the full cost of the failed bid (15 million.)

3) The BBC should NOT cover future World Cups until FIFA is properly and publicly cleaned up. and Sepp Blatter resigns.  It would be hypocritical if the BBC was to pay a corrupt organisation (FIFA) for TV coverage rights.

4) The BBC should apologise to the British Public and The DG should resign for screening the Panorama programme when they did.

5) An alternative (Non FIFA) World Cup should be staged every two years.  Teams participate by invitation and it is hosted by drawing lots with each country taking turn to host.  THE ONLY FAIR WAY!

The BBC have perpetrated an act of treason as far as I am concerned.

REFUSE TO PAY YOUR TV LICENCE!

Not sure I think they should have exposed the corruption. Maybe a week later would've been better.

I agree with Jonathan but I also understand Jasper's anger. The beeb may well have scuppered this for us. All they had to do was wait a few extra days to broadcast the programme.

We now all know that we were NEVER going to get it no matter what!

I am just sad that most of us will never see and experience what is is like to host the World Cup.  I can remember 66 (just) and it was fantastic.

It was all a forgone conclusion.  The attitude was arrogant England want everything, they have the Olympics so they are not getting the World Cup!

The other vote we got (apart from our own) was from one of those mentioned by Panorama!  Go figure that one?

Gotta,

What you gotta realise is that Algeria and Slovenia are not in the same league as say Brazil, France, Germany or Italy.

Being English and British we are proud of our teams and achievements.

I take it you are from the USA?

Jumping back into this I think most countries are proud of their teams and achievements and therefore being English & British is irrelevant to that but we do lean towards being very arrogant I can't disagree with that.

Hi Jasper no I'm actually from the UK too. There's a line between pride and arrogance I think that's easily crossed.

Brazil got the World Cup 2014  and are getting the Olympics soon after.

Quatar!  They are even considering suspending the entire European Football seasons so they can hold this in the WINTER.  So much for FIFA rules then.

Why don't we move Christams to Easter and have a longer holiday?  Anything appears possible.
