I've never been on twitter, but I think Stephen Fry described it as a micro blog. It sounds like a good because you can follow so many interesting people in there. Someone I know is doing a bike ride from Cornwall to Scotland and he's using twitter to let everyone know how it's going.

I have a twitter account, but I'm not using it.  I suppose I should since I hear so much about twitter.  I think facebook also has a section where you can briefly state what you are doing on a day to day bases. 
Isn't this the same as twitter?

In my opinion, Twitter is a micro-blogging service that builds its appeal on similar, but inherently different status updates.

Obviously, there is some crossover between Facebook and Twitter, you just need to find out which one is better for you to stay connected with people.

I agree. HireScores is now "tweeting" by the way if you or anybody else would like to "follow"  .

Robin, how do I go about following hirescores on twitter?  Once I have my account, do I simply search for hirescores?  Or is there another name i should search for?

Indeed just search HireScores and you should find our profile with the logo you'll also recognise. Then simply hit "follow" and that's it.

I think one of the big differences between Facebook and Twitter is that you can follow a celebrity or politician on Twitter, for example,I follow Stephen Fry, and President Obama. Facebook is more about staying connected with peopleyou know. Also, the short word limit on twitter makes you think more abuot what you wnt to say.

Great explanation. Who else is on Twitter in here? I follow loads of people and it's bizarre that I can now get a personal message to Al Pacino if I want.

Is it just me that doesn't like things like Facebook being taken over by businesses? It's a social networking site not a recruitment site.

I think it can easily be both. Plus it's offering a service to Facebook users.

But Facebook IS business. It was set up to make money and on just about every page there's some advert or another. I think using all tools at a recruiters disposal is fine.

Twitter isn't really about a status update it's more about getting information to people. If you follow people you can all take part in a big conversation. I follow Kevin Spacey and it's fascinating to read his updates about what scenes his filming today and where (It's called 'Casino Jack' by the way). I think Twitter and Facebook are very very different.

I agree with you. Twitter is more about status updates without other applications. It is more interactive especially to those who loves to blog. Facebook on the other hand is one big app with a lot of small apps that will let one explore social networking even better.
