Many people can't wait to retire, but how do you know when your financially secure enough to retire?  It seems that people don't talk about this topic, but eventually we're all going to retire some day, so what can I do now to prepare myself for that day?  How much should the average person have in their retirement account?  Any advice?

I certainly can't offer advice on this myself. More an opinion. I think it's a personal thing. You know roughly how much you need to live on or how much to allow yourself a comfortable retirement. I'd say only the individual can say but I'd be very interested in hearing other points of view on this.

What does anybody else think?

Is there anybody here that's retired already? Or about to retire even?

I'd retire now if I won the lottery.

As somebody said, when you have enough to live on for the foreseeable future I suppose. It depends as well on insurance bonds, property owned etc.
