I don't like to disclose too much personal information about myself in the work environment, but no matter how well you try to maintain your distance people always find something to gossip about.  I could be minding my own business, until I find out that I'm the main topic among my co-workers.  Of course, I ignore some of the remarks I hear, but lets face it, you can only take so much gossip.  What is the best way to approach this?

I'd say just get on with your job - reacting will only make it worse

If this person is saying things in the work environment that is hurtful or distracting then it's best to confront this person.  Remember to remain calm when talking to the person and address all the issues that you are having.  By getting things out in the open, you are preventing the gossiping from getting worse and it also will relieve any office tension.
