Title: Recruitment Agencies using Idiots
Post by: Jasper9 on January 07, 2013, 10:23:37 AM
Not known for their grasp of geography or common sense at the best of times, this recession has resulted in most agencies employing young inexperienced staff to deal with candidates and vacancies, after getting rid of the more expensive regular staff over the last year or so.
Some of the stupid questions they ask you beggar belief.
Why anyone would put their potential career in the hands of these kids is a mystery.

On a personal level I am pleased that the agencies are having a bad time and hope many will go out of business altogether.
They are not needed, not ethical and not professional.

It's time the company HR departments did what they are paid for!

Some of the stupid questions they ask you beggar belief.

Give us some examples, could do with a laugh...

I was looking for an accounts person who was "sh*t hot on excel", confidently used pivot tables and copy, paste and generally reconcile bank accounts quickly.  The cv's I was offered basically had the word "Excel" in them, that was all.

Crap really.

Tried to source the candidate myself and call me picky if you will, but if your application doesn't come with an intro letter (or email preferably) then it goes on the "no" pile.  Of the 100 odd applicants only 6 were on the "maybe" pile, yes SIX out of over a hundred people actually bothered to introduce themselves.

And of those six, none were suitable as I don't want a bloody qualified accountant, just someone with a quick mind will do.  The search continues....
