==================

Whether you're a software developer, pre-sales consultant, system administrator or technical architect, we believe that mapping out the best strategic move on your career path can be a complicated task. With so many conflicting factors and influences it's reassuring to find a technical recruitment consultancy that appreciates a considered move, one which is stimulating to you and beneficial to the company, is all important to success.

Whatever your reason for changes - challenge, growth, opportunity, technology or reward - we'll understand, advise, support and guide you towards the right organisation, for the right reason. We're confident your next move will be exactly what you had in mind and not just another vacancy filled.

All effective relationships in life depend upon certain tenets - trust, honesty, integrity, compassion and understanding. It is only when these are truly achieved that the relationship becomes a partnership. Through your dealings with Connections we hope you will clearly see these are values we are happy to be judged against. Our aim is to be seen as the recruitment service provider of choice and we wish to achieve this through demonstrating passion and pride in what we do, recruit.

After all, it's your move!

To contract or not to contract

If you're already contracting then you've made up your mind. If not, it's a decision which warrants careful consideration. Interim, freelance and contract resource is defined as the expertise provided to organisations for a predetermined period of time, on an agreed rate of pay and on the basis best suited to that organisation's requirements. This could be as either a 'limited' company employee, 'umbrella' company employee or as an 'agency' employee.

IT contractors will undoubtedly earn a higher 'hourly' income than their permanent counterparts, but like any decision, this shouldn't be taken based purely upon financial criteria. Further advantages can include independence, freedom, individual flexibility and the autonomy of 'being your own boss', the constant challenge of new environments, the diversity of technically demanding solutions and projects, the lack of 'political' involvement.

Sounds great, but as with everything there are downsides. Your training and development, holidays, cars and benefits are all your own responsibility and your own cost. You may feel excluded from the office 'in crowd' and flexibility may mean you have to live away from home for periods of time and work at an unsociable hour.
