Brook Street is a long established recruitment company, founded in Mayfair in 1946 by Margery Hurst, who was later awarded an OBE.  For over 50 years the name 'Brook Street' has been synonymous with excellence in the world of recruitment.

In 1965 Brook Street was the first agency to be listed on the Stock Exchange and in 1985 we were the first to become a member of the British Quality Foundation.  This was followed in 1987 when we joined the Employers Forum on Disability, in support of our commitment to equality of opportunity of employment.

In 1987 we introduced the country's most advanced computer based skill evaluation and training system for both temporary and permanent applicants, Advantage.

We continued to develop innovative business solutions with the introduction of TRAC - a unique Time Recording and Costing system.  We have also seen the formation of BS Social Care, a subsidiary arm providing social care workers to the public and private sectors.

1999 saw the establishment of our national Training and Development centre in Luton, ensuring that our staff always represent the highest level of service and professionalism within the industry.

Brook Street (UK) Ltd now employs more than 900 staff in over 100 branches nation-wide with a core business focus of temporary and permanent clerical, secretarial, administrative and light industrial staff.  Our organisational structure enables Brook Street to manage the recruitment needs of 15,000 clients every year.  We payroll in excess of 9,000 temporaries every week and we register over 1,000 new applicants per week.

Investment in technology is vital to deliver solutions to a national contract.  The utilisation of e-commerce facilities that include email, intranet, internet and Microweb sites are essential in our daily operation.  We have developed during the last three years bespoke applications such as ETRAC, Navigator and Advantage to further enhance the service we provide to our applicants and clients.

Poor overall quality of recruiter's pitch for potential candidate, poor vision for their agency and lack of feedback from initial registration in person to lack of acknowledging my phone calls to jobs applied for through their online portal despite quoting the job referene, and no follow up to a query despite informing me that the person or alternative person would. More important, no advice nor help in securing any jobs with them or other avenues to find suitable work. Total slackness on their part in so many areas... and I am not the only candidate saying so. I overheard a telephone conversation whilst at their office where the recruiter was trying to placate and reassure the caller that they had in fact tried to return their call but got no answer - she did this whilst rolling her eyes up to the ceiling, right in my view! I guess, more lies to the caller no doubt.
