Sheffield is one of the biggest cities in the North of England offering many different Jobs and career opportunities for people looking for employment. It's been recently placed in the top ten best cities to move a business to and is also in the top five best cities to have offices and call centres in.

Public sector workers are also catered for by several Government agencies who all have a significant presence in the city. Jobcentre Plus also has their headquarters based in Sheffield offering workers, jobs both inside the centre and elsewhere in the city. Sheffield University employs around 5000 staff across a wide range of disciplines, not to mention Hallam University which also employs thousands of teaching professionals. However, the two biggest employers are probably Sheffield Council and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust which employ as many as 26,000 people combined.
