So are video CVs and resumes a fad or the future? A recent article in the Guardian suggests the jury is still out on the idea. While some employers welcome the chance to see a potential employee's professionalism and communication skills on camera, others are concerned about the possible implications for discrimination legislation or simply the time involved in viewing them. For some jobs, particularly those that include elements of public speaking, presentations etc, the video CV may provide a useful shortlisting tool. More than anything, the fate of video CVs may well come down to the job seekers themselves - waxing lyrically about your time spent serving chips at your local take away may not be for everyone.
