![]() Undertake An Organisation Review Before RecruitingConsider your overall organisation needs so as to recruit the best candidate In our third tip offering employers and hiring companies steps to better recruitment we look at the need before or during the recruitment process to look inwards at your business and carefully examine exactly what is required, who the new employees will be working with and how they will fit in. As part of the recruitment process, perhaps even before you advertise job vacancies it's important to examine the different parts of your business in an effort to determine exactly what is required for the open positions and how the new employees will fit in. Don't set arbitrary standards for the recruitment of new employees. And most importantly, learn to tell the difference between the skills and traits required for different areas of your business. It is good practice to not simply look for an exact replica of previous job holder or current staff member. Firstly they will have been different at the point you appointed them; secondly the job may have changed or be suitable for change and thirdly and perhaps most importantly, your business may well benefit from the introduction of a different skill set or experience. Each vacancy you have is an opportunity to move your organisation forward and equip it for future challenges. It is also a good time to look at the skills and responsibilities of your current employees so that they too can be developed, motivated and retained. Simply hiring more of exactly the same without thinking it through can mean you miss this vital recruitment opportunity.
