Clarity

Job hunting and securing work can be hard and one of your strongest tools is you CV. Recruitment agencies and potential employers see many so getting yours as precise and clear as possible is a crucial step in getting you that job. This is the first of ten tips on putting together a great CV.

It's important when putting your CV together - or revitalising it - that you organise the information enclosed under clear subheadings. Remember that employer and recruiter eyes scan many CV's a day so it needs to be appealing to the eye in some fashion. You don't have long to get their attention and the subheadings and layout of yours is in many ways your first impression.

You may have included lots of fantastic and relevant job experience, skills both in life and in the employment sector but if it's laid out in a sloppy format that looks at first glance to be messy it may well end up in the recycle pile. You wouldn't want all of that great work history and life experience to be missed so the precise sub heading way of laying your information out is crucial to securing you that job or new career.

If somebody will only glance over a CV for a few seconds initially due to time constraints then you want that person be they a potential employer or part of a recruitment agency you want them to find exactly what you want them to.

Help the recruiter easily see that you are suitable for the role.  Draw the connections between your past roles and the one you are applying for - do not leave it to chance that they will do so for you.

There are different layouts you can adopt depending on the role you are applying for and your past experience.  Use a layout that is helpful to your application.  You can get more information on CV layouts at our sister site HireApplications.com Sorry, comments are now closed on this post
