![]() Tips For A Top InterviewDo your homework In our third of nine tips on interview success we look at the important task of researching before an interview. Researching the organisation you want to work for doesn't have to take long but will go a long way in a job interview. It will also suitably impress an employer or recruiter and help you to get that position of employment. An easy way to slip up in an interview is to not know the ins and outs of the company you want to work for. A bit of research goes a long way. Every firm or organisation will probably have a website. Larger companies will have a wealth of materiel written about them. A search engine will take you there without too much effort. An interview will want to know that you're fully aware of what you're getting into and what the company ethos is. If they have a mission statement read it. If they are committed to certain ‘green' issues this would be a good way to ingratiate yourself with them - if you agree with their stance on that matter of course. In fact doing a bit of research can help you fill an awkward gap in an interview - which is when they ask you if you have any questions and you do not (other than ones you do not want to ask at this point which is how much holiday, what is the bonus ...). You can ask a question about the company and at the same time refer to something you have read about it.
