Take Steps To Better Recruitment

Here are some tips to improve your business recruitment process and to help you get the most out of recruitment consultants.

Recruit in line with your business values

This is the first of six tips to improve your business recruitment process and to help you get the most out of recruitment consultants. Your workers and employees are the heart of what you do and it's essential that when filling vacant jobs you bear this in mind and think not only about if they can do the tasks required but also if they will bring value to your organisation as a whole.

Of course you know your business and the direction you want it to move in but when recruiting or seeking help from recruitment agencies or consultancies never forget your staff. Your employees and staff members are the heart of your business and they define the values, outlook and culture of the workplace. When looking to recruit, filter out candidates who you don't think will succeed in your company or help take your organisation where it needs to go.

Obviously there are many areas on which it's not appropriate (or indeed legal) to discriminate against potential employees, but personal job interviews and resumes allow you to get an idea of how the candidate if employed might fit into a team and whether they're the sort of person you're looking for (above and beyond their qualifications). Recruiting for attitude and ensuring a strong alignment of values does both you, the recruiter, and they, the job seeker, a favour.  It will ensure that they are motivated and engaged with your company and thus they will remain employees for longer and make a more significant performance contribution.  This is what successful recruitment is all about.
