![]() Successful Online Recruitment TipsSort out your own website When recruiting and advertising jobs online don't overlook the importance of your own business website. Job applicants and potential employees will usually look at your site when seeking to apply so you need the most of this selling opportunity and not miss a trick when aiming for excellent online recruiting skills. In many cases organisations looking to recruit new staff will have poorly designed websites that don't appear to treat online recruitment as a serious option. Whilst not helping the recruitment practice this can actually hinder it and reduce the chances of the company recruiting at all. A website will often be the first port of call for promising job candidates to find out about the company and if those people are unable to easily find information about current job vacancies, for example if those details are hidden in some obscure part of the website, they may dismiss the company completely. You also miss out on the opportunity to increase your direct recruitment which is the most cost effective way to recruit. Make sure you have a friendly, clear and informative section for recruitment on your website. ‘Join The Team' is a good example of what to call this page or another similar term. The idea of this section is to really sell the idea of working for the company and its working culture too. If there's a mission statement it might be an idea to include it here as well. Enabling a candidate to submit a CV is vital as well as this will encourage more applicants. Remember that you must ensure that the employer brand you are ‘selling' through your recruitment advertising fits with the rest of your website - else people will be confused at best, and at worst put off applying for a job. The days of being able to afford to lose talent through artificial job application hurdles are long past. You need to be well positioned to get the people you need, and the stronger the job candidate, the more options they have and the more easily put off they will be.
