![]() Successful Online RecruitingThe more conventional route: newspaper websites If you have jobs to advertise within your company or organisation you're going to want to reach as wide an audience as possible. There are many beneficial ways to do this and one of the best is to advertise on the recruitment and jobs website of your local - or even a national - newspaper. Newspaper websites reach a variety of job hunters and potential employees. In this our forth in a series of eight tips focusing on online recruitment we look at the benefit gained from advertising job vacancies in this way. The majority of newspapers post extensive classified advertisements on their websites in addition to recruitment and job listings within the paper itself. Whilst in the past the negative assumption might have been that your recruitment potential could be slightly less effective because the online advertisement would create less interest than the printed one, this isn't always the case. Of course many job hunters will buy a newspaper that's known to have a great jobs section but equally many will look online the same day that the job section is published. These days many newspaper websites have built up a stellar reputation as being a great place to look for job vacancies and recruitment possibilities and of course to advertise those vacancies. In many towns the website of a local newspaper advertising local jobs can compete with the better known recruitment websites and employment search engine sites. Another positive aspect of this type of advertising is that the job vacancy will remain on the website for upwards of a month, long after the recruitment section of the newspaper has been recycled. And it is usually a much lower cost option for recruitment. With job seekers becoming increasingly computer literate, for most jobs this is a safe and cost effective option. If you are seeking to recruit from a target candidate pool who may be less computer savvy - such as executives or part time carers - then target the most likely newspaper itself (perhaps one of the majors for your executive and the local paper for the part time carers).
