Let's Kick Start The Construction Industry

Having read an article posted on www.build.co.uk entitled "Build the UK's Future and Invest in Construction - CIOB" I agree whole heartedly that the UK government needs to invest in the construction industry, which is directly linked to the health of the country.

The UK government needs to help stimulate the UK construction industry, which has haemorrhaged construction jobs during the 2008-2010 recession.  The industry suffered more than most, seeing people leave the industry in droves, people emigrating to find jobs, companies going into administration or bankruptcy.

Chris Blythe, Chief Executive of the CIOB, is quoted as stating that "the physical infrastructure of this country underpins the entire economic and social infrastructure.  Investment in the built environment can spread the benefits of an economic stimulus to all parts of the UK. For every £1 spent on construction output, £2.84 is generated in total economic activity, and 92p of every £1 spent on construction is retained in the UK."  Great statistics hey.

Now anyone can see this makes sense.  We have all bailed out the banks, many of which are now seeing record growth and profits return.  What we now need is government and councils realising the importance of construction and infrastructure to the health of our economic and social infrastructure.

So come on David Cameron and co., let's make Britain great again!
