CV Tips

(1)      Place specific dates & years on previous employment, stating if the job was permanent or contract employment.  Employers look at: durations of employment (longer periods are seen as more employable); gaps in employment (gaps for sabbaticals, time off need to be explained).  Employers invariably make judgements on a person's reliability to stay with them, based on the aforementioned information.

(2)      Detailed project information.  Focus on the project work that you did & your involvement, not company information.  Employers want to know your capabilities.

(3)      CV length: 2-3 pages is a good guide, ensure quality & relevant information only.

(4)      Employment history in reverse chronological order, most recent job first.

(5)      Keep it relevant. No need to have a section for "Favourite Quotes" or "Current Reading Lists".

(6)      Check for spelling & grammar.  A recruiter or employer will not be impressed if they cannot understand your CV or can see mistakes!
