Employers: Are You Ready, The Future Recruitment Landscape?

Employers: Are You Ready, The Future Recruitment Landscape?

Having worked in recruitment since 1996, I have seen many changes in the recruitment industry, many changes in how employers recruit.

Let's start with technology, the internet did not exist for a start and neither did email.  Recruitment was all done via telephone, email and fax.  Now in the information age we have so much to digest, so much at our disposal, are we ready and more importantly what is best for us, what works for us.

It is well known in recruitment and human resource circles that the population is aging, terms such as Baby Boom Generation (post world war two, born during the middle part of the 20th Century, circa 1946 - 1965), Generation X (Born between 1961 and 1981) and Generation Y (1970's to 2000) are referred to, and these generations are very different.

When I was young I remember my first computer (Atari 2600) with space invaders being advanced gaming, now children are growing up with iphones (with touch screens), ipods, computers and so forth, seeing and using these from as young as 1-2 years old, WOW.

People's work habits are changing, how people search for a job is changing, how employers recruit is changing, the different generations want different things, have different values.  Employers need to be aware of their target audience's views, their habits and their lifestyle choices.  Times are changing, be aware of those changes, embrace those changes, or be left behind.
