Recruitment agencies and employers will see many resumes when looking to fill a job vacancy and hire staff, so it pays dividends to make a few different resumes and covering letters to best suit the application you're making. The job market is a very competitive one and most people know that a good resume is a very important step in applying for work. As obvious as it may seem, many applicants don't know that you don't have to produce one definitive resume that represents you to every prospective employer, but that you can make slight variations depending the particular job you are applying for. Indeed, the more versions you make tailored to specific job type or sector the more chance of success you will have. For example if the job you are applying for is a sales-oriented positions, produce a version of your resume that emphasises your work history in a sales environment. If it's a customer service based role you're applying for then emphasise that area of your experience. A recruiter will be looking at many resumes and wants to see why you're specifically suited to the role that you're applying for. The more you do to help the recruiter the better your chances of job hunting success.
