 100 Productivity Tips
There's an excellent rolling discussion over on Instigator Blog about getting the most you can out of every day. As an employee, contractor or owner of a business it's obviously important for your own work but productivity is perhaps even more vital in your staff or those you manage - essentially maximising the returns from your investment of time and money (salaries). A few simple productivity tips from us then: - Limit your use of email during the day - it's far too easy to keep checking email throughout the day and get distracted by unnecessary communications. Set aside a specific time to handle emails.
- Work to a plan - Outline at the beginning of the week what needs done and when, stick to it
- Do it in chunks - Attention easily wanders over longer periods - take regular breaks and complete projects in easily digestible chunks
- Delegate - As much as possible do the work where you can add the most value, if someone else can do the job just as easily, delegate
- Make a start - Big projects can be daunting, make a start ASAP, even if it's only the first paragraph or an outline on a napkin. Making any kind of start makes it easier to return to.
- Having a good system for filing your papers so you can find things easily and quickly
